Welcome to The Contemporary Choir Stratford Upon Avon!
Our Stratford choir was our flagship project when we first launched The Contemporary Choir in 2018. During the time since, we may have grown vastly in numbers, but still retain (and always will), the feeling of being a family. We’ve made so many dear friends who we can’t wait to see each week, and even though we work hard in our rehearsals, we absolutely love every second, and there is an undeniably energising ambience that leaves us glowing the whole week through.
Here at The Contemporary Choir Stratford Upon Avon, we create custom musical arrangements of all of our material, and our diverse blend of Pop, Rock, Disney and Musical Theatre is both exciting and moving - both as a vocalist and a listener. We have 4 main vocal sections within our choir - sopranos and altos for the ladies (although sops are sometimes split depending on the song) and tenors and bass for the gents. Whether you are an experienced vocalist or have never sung in front of anyone before, our Stratford Choir is the perfect place for you. Our large vocal sections will support you and you can develop your confidence at your own pace - you will never be singled out to sing alone unless you would like to be at one of our concerts. We always carry out a full vocal warm-up before we sing and we are continually providing technical advice on everything from diaphragmatic breathing and resonance, to diction, passagio and dynamics. You will undoubtedly hear and feel your technique and musical understanding growing in strength, regardless of your current ability - and we will support you in all you do.

THE REPERTOIRE
The Contemporary Choir’s setlist is comprised of some of the world’s finest Pop, Rock, Musical Theatre and Disney songs. From the likes of Adele, Queen and Justin Timberlake, all the way through to The Lion King, Frozen and Rent – there is something for everyone to adore. All of our incredible arrangements are custom written and arranged specifically for The Contemporary Choir by our Musical Director Paul Asbridge, and every song is certain to leave you with goosebumps and a huge smile when you sing it!
YOUR CHOIR LEADER
This non-traditional choir is led by professional touring vocalist/vocal coach Melissa Asbridge, who is a lead vocalist for award winning 21 piece live show band ‘Jam Hot’. Spending her time touring the globe performing the world’s greatest rock and pop songs for celebrity events/weddings, product launches and corporate parties, Melissa is just the person to help you develop the vocal skills to confidently sing all of your favourite songs, complete with harmonies and bags of sass!
PERFORM WITH LIVE BAND
As Melissa tours with some of the UK’s finest musicians, The Contemporary Choir Warwickshire are given opportunities to perform alongside a live band at some of our performances. Singing with live musicians is such a fantastic, uplifting experience, and adds a whole new dynamic to the already exciting material we will be working on in our rehearsals! Singing alongside friends is simply good for the soul, endorphins are released, stress is melted away, and it leaves you feeling thoroughly revitalised.
